Bankett Gruppe 2 / Banquet Group 2
Vernissage on 11 November 2018 with introduction by Dr Anna Fricke
Because of the weather, the vernissage ‒ which had begun next to the work in the sculpture park ‒ had to be moved at short notice into the Selbständige Evangelisch-Lutherische Kirche SELK , which was kindly made available by Pastor Klaus Pahlen
After relocating into the dry interior of the Selbständige Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirche SELK:
After the welcoming by KaM, the mayor of the city of Essen, Franz-Josef Britz, and the head of the culture and educations department, Muchtar Al Ghusain, addressed the participants. This was followed by Dr Anna Fricke, curator for contemporary art at the Museum Folkwang, who provided an introduction to the artist and her work.
Afterwards, there was an opportunity to gather in the parish hall, where, among other things, catalogs of the artist and posters of the vernissage were on display.
The project and the vernissage have been mentioned as follows: WAZ/NRZ articles on 26 October 2018 and 8 November 2019; Südanzeiger / Lokalkompass on 1 November 2018 and 10 November 2018, and, among others, by Allbau und Lintorfer here. Invitations to the finissage had also been carried in the Südanzeiger on 16 November 2019.
During the finissage the artist book Bankett Gruppe / Banquet Group by Phung-Tien Phan was presented. The book had become available shortly before; upon request the artist signed the copies.
